In my last blog I touched on “Who am I?” and how this question can bring on anxiety in most. However, for me it gives me an opportunity to explore.
Again, I'm going to go into this too deeply - but this is a very important step that helps business owners identify and connect to their ideal client.
Spoiler alert- your ideal client is YOU.
In the beginning I fought this harder than anything else and so I spent the first 4 years of my entrepreneurial journey consistently overextended, exhausted and frustrated AF. Because I didn’t know who I was, I wasn’t connecting with my ideal client which lead to in-authentic conversations and a lack of profitable leads.
To be honest, I’ve spent most of my life trying to figure out who I am. From childhood till my early 30’s, I left it up for someone else to define me, or I’d try really hard to be someone that I was not (hence why I hate the term- “fake it till you make it” but that's a whole other story…).
I would ignore my strengths and try to mold my ideal client after who I thought would bring me the most success. Instead of success, however, this approach gave me inconsistent sales and made me think, “my business would be so great if only I had the right clients.”
But it wasn’t my clients fault, it was mine, because I didn't really know who I was.
“Who is my ideal client?”
This is such an important question because it’s a key step in helping you create the business, the money and the life you want. Just like “who am I?”, it can tend to get dumbed down or molded into something we think is the right answer.
Remember, your ideal client is you!
When I tell my clients this I see an instant reaction of relief and slight terror. Relief in the fact that they now have a direction in which to start working, coupled with the terror that they may not know who they are themselves.
As you can see from my story- I know exactly how that feels and thankfully, through my last 10 years as an entrepreneur, I can now help other business get out from under the overwhelm of this step.
In my last blog, I showed you that the first step to create profitable leads and faster sales was to create a powerful, connecting message.
Now, let's use that message effectively by connecting it the right person! I walk you through this entire process in my latest tutorial but since you are here, I'll give you the first step - write down all the qualities and characteristics you want your ideal client to have (remember, it starts with you.)
Remember - you cannot help everyone, it is mentally, emotionally and physically impossible (not to mention, not even remotely profitable). When you connect to who are (aka your message) and who you connect to (aka your ideal client) you will create limitless opportunities, creating the business, the money and the life you want.
